Synthetic Water Hyacinth – what’s the deal?

The synthetic option seen here is specially manufactured to look like the natural varieties that are now becoming hugely popular as an alternative to natural rattan, where environmental concerns are a problem in many areas.

The weave is 8mm thick and is UV stabilised meaning it won’t fade over time.

One of the main benefits with this weave is the fact that it’s virtually maintenance-free due to its synthetic nature.

Time served crafts people use techniques that are similar to those used with traditional cane weaves where thinner, strand-fibres are used to support the main weave itself to give added strength and a tighter knit that will last for years.

Teak is used to make the flat feet with toughened plastic caps offering further protection all round.
